Keeping Your Existing Mobile Phone Number

Are you aware that you can change to another mobile phone network and keep your existing mobile phone number. If not you can and its really easy to do too.


Transfer / Port your number to O2

Provided you have fulfilled any contractual agreement you may have with your current Service Provider you can request a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) from them.

We need your PAC number before we can begin the transfer so you'll save time if you contact your Service Provider first. To bring your mobile number to O2, here's what you need to do:

Contact your current Service Provider and request a PAC code. PAC codes are valid for 30 days from the issue date and will also act as notice of termination for your old account. This means you will not lose service until the day of the transfer.

Buy a combined O2 mobile and SIM card or just a SIM card but please ensure the O2 SIM will work in your mobile

Click on the 'Keep my number' link below providing the following information:

  • The number you wish to keep

  • New O2 mobile number
  • New O2 SIM card number
  • The PAC from your current Service Provider Once we receive your request, we will arrange your mobile number transfer and reply with your transfer date.

    This will take five working days from the date we request it. Please remember that the date of request may not be the same date that you sent the details to us.

    Transfer / Port your number to Vodafone

    If you're joining Vodafone as a pay monthly customer
  • Enter your existing mobile number and your PAC. You will be asked to do this once you have selected your phone and price plan.
  • If you don't know your PAC, you will need to contact your existing network or service provider, as we can't transfer your number without it.
  • When we receive your order we'll email you with the date your existing number will be activated with Vodafone.
  • On this date, turn on your new phone and you'll be connected to Vodafone. Simple!

    Transfer / Port your number to T-Mobile

  • First you need to check whether you are still under contract with your current network. * (If you are still within your contract period, minimum term charges may apply)
  • Buy your new phone - See our great offers * (If you have purchased a SIM only connection and you wish to have your current handset unlocked, you need to call your existing network. This can take a few days, so call them before the port date)
  • Obtain your Port Authorisation Code (PAC) from your current network. * (A PAC code consisting of three letters and six numbers i.e.ONE123456, allows you to transfer your number and is valid for 30 days).
  • Call T-Mobile and quote your PAC - Call 0870 60 60 139 and our porting team will be happy to help, alternatively you can call Customer Services on your T-Mobile handset on 150. Once you have requested to port to T-Mobile, it will take 2 working days to complete the transfer of your number.

    Transfer / Port your number to Orange

    It's easy to keep your existing mobile number when you join Orange - no matter what network you were with previously.

    How to get your temporary number

  • When you buy a phone, just tick the box during the payment process to transfer your number and type in your PAC (Port Authorisation Code). If you don't know your PAC, just fill in the relevant details and we'll send you details of how to get the PAC from your existing network. The PAC is your authority to request a transfer and is only valid for 30 calendar days so please respond promptly.
  • You will be given a temporary Orange number and a new account number, so you can enjoy the benefits of Orange as soon as you receive your phone. When you receive it, call Orange Customer Services on 07973 100 980, or 980 from an Orange phone, to register your phone.
  • We'll then send you a letter to confirm the switch date and what will happen on the transfer day, once we've received your PAC.
  • You don't have to do anything - you're automatically switched to your original number on the transfer day. At first you will pay two bills for the month - one to Orange and the other to your old network provider.

    Transfer / Port your number to 3

    1. Get in touch with your previous mobile networkAsk for a Port Authorisation code(PAC). The PAC confirms that you're able to transfer your number to 3 and is valid for 30 days.

    2. Call 3 customer servicesOnce you've got your PAC, just call 333 (it's free) from your mobile or 08707 330 333 from any phone (calls are charged at your national rate).

    3. How long will it take?It will usually take between 5 and 7 working days. 7 days after your number has been transfered, we'll send you a text message to confirm we've credited 10 to your account. And you've got 30 days to use the credit.
